UPDATE!!! Discussions with Farmington City Official

savekaysvillehomes.com was protesting KAYSVILLE red line route and NOT the "South Option" that goes more westerly in FARMINGTON.
To clarify: The below email I happily posted on this blog was much earlier on in this process and the correspondence was in reference to a KSL news story I happend to see to "move the WDC west of the powerlines in Northern Kaysville", not in Farmington. This WAS NOT in response to the Farmington/Kaysville residents protesting group that came on the scene later. (note dates on emails). At that time, and from the KSL report, I thought the savekaysvillehomes.com were advocating the Westerly route in Farmington. After emailing with them back and forth several times after I sent that email to the Mayor I understood they were not, at that time, advocating the southwesterly route in Farmington but instead commenting on the proposed Kaysville routes shown on the map above. Those routes are a separate issue from the southwesterly and north route options in Farmington. They were advocating a route that would go west of the powerlines in their particular Kaysville neighborhood. I had already sent my email to the Farmington City Mayor saying I was happy the city wasn't advocating the western route through Farmington and hoped Farmington City flexed their muscles just as much as Kaysville City's Mayor was. Again, I thought Kaysville City and that one group was advocating the southwesterly route in Farmington. Of course I'm going to fight against it going in my neighborhood, just like everyone else is for their neighborhood. That shouldn't be a surprise. Since the time of that email correspondence and based on the smiling kids Billboard and the Kaysville City mayor appearanceI'm guessing the saveKaysvillehomes.com residents are now in agreement with those residents on the Farmington/Kaysville border at 950North to just push everything west, no matter the overwhelming evidence that that route has the most impact to a greater number of Farmington residents.

Scott,
Thanks for your reply and thoughts. I have sent emails out to everyone
I can in my Ranches neighborhood.
I hope several come to throw support behind C-1. I saw the Kaysville residents
and mayor on KSL the other
night. I hope we have bigger muscles.
Thanks again,
Julie Ann

Julie Ann,
Thanks for your email, even though Clark Lane may not fail in the future,
Park Lane certainly will. And that failure will come long before 2040. With
the city supporting the C-1 option, we could certainly use ALOT of support
from the residents in your area to throw your support behind us. There is a
very active group in Kaysville that are trying to flex their muscles as well,
to change UDOT's current alignment. We need to have residents of our
community to show up at the open house tommorow to write down and
voice their support for this option as well. Please spread the word.

Thanks Julie Ann,

Scott

Comment:
Dear Mayor Harbertson,
I was very happy to read the city's resolution
showing preference for the C-1 alignment of the proposed West Davis
Corridor. As you know, several of us are completely against the B-1
and A-1 options, at all costs. I would like to propose that Section 2.
Second Choice not be written into the Master Transportation Plan.
Is a second choice required or asked for? A-1, in our opinion,
is not a choice at all. UDOT representatives have stated that this
road's impact on traffic issues is mainly for those towns north of us,
anyway. Farmington residents have no problem accessing I-15 and
Legacy. UDOTs own traffic models show that Clark Lane won't fail
even into 2040. I would argue that Farmington City has done it's part
and then some by giving up land and space for the North Legacy and
Park Lane connectors. Still some people might ask even more from us
and try to accuse us of having a Me First attitude. However, the job
you've been doing is looking out for your town and it's residents and
their lifestyle and I commend you for that and support you on continuing that work.
Thank you,
Julie Ann Prescott
