Come to the meeting!!! Voice your opinion for the route that makes the most sense!!

Meeting Wednesday February 23rd 7:00pm at the community center in Farmington. Come!
The best route for all of Farmington citizens is the C-1 northern route. IF the West Davis Corridor (WDC) is pushed South and West of Farmington it will affect numerous MORE neighborhoods than if the C-1 option is chosen by UDOT. IF the WDC is pushed south and west of Farmington several "collector" and "connecting" roads will be built through neighborhoods to get those travelling North and South then East to Lagoon, Station Park, I-15. The only logical, reasonable option is the C-1 northern route, as Farmington City wisely resolved to make the city's 1st choice in their Master Transportation Plan.

  1. That is a pretty generalized statement. The disruption to neighbors and friends would be significantly greater if they chose the Shepard Lane option. The social dynamics of your Ranches neighborhoods would experience little to NO impact as the road would be west of you and NOT CUT THROUGH your neighborhood!!

  2. Another thing to consider is that the Shepard Lane option would cause the need for a few hundred children to return to Eagle Bay again causing the need for an increase in portables etc.

  3. Is there a facebook group we can rally around in support of the Shepard Lane option? There are multiple anti shephard lane facebook groups that are pushing to fill the Farmington City meeting tonight in hopes of taking up the conversation and not allowing the Farmington residents oppinions to be heard. We need to better organize and rally. Facebook groups anyone?

  4. Thanks for the dialouge. There is one Facebook page I started last year. It is called: WDCAwarenessGroup
If you know or find out about any others please post here.
Nathan: do you live in the Ranches subdivision? Did you get the flyer announcing the meeting?

  5. SimplyJen: I know it's an emotional issue for you. It is for me, too. I care just as much about my native neighbors as you do about your social ones. The "South Option" would divide some neighborhoods, along Glovers Lane, for example. It would also completely ruin one of the best reasons for living out west in a rural area, the natural habitat. Kids: The children out here love Bald Eagles, Falcons, wetlands that protect our homes and our environment (see Know What Your Kids Know). There will soon be another school out here in Farmington and there has been talk about it going right on Glovers Lane. 500+ kids will be affected if the South Option is chosen. Where are you getting your information that a freeway would cause students to return to Eagle Bay and generate need for more portables? I'm sorry your developer or real estate agent didn't tell you that a road was planned to go through 950 north and has been on maps since 1996.

  6. Just so you know, there are Bald Eagles, Falcons and the like on our area as well. I have had Bald Eagles fly right over my house. And, yes, we did know a ROAD was going through the area (to be exact, a connector, a two-lane road with a turning lane). I am sorry you didn't know that there was a possibility that UDOT would put a freeway through the west side of Farmington--this has ALWAYS been in their plans. Just so you know, we don't like this plan either. We want UDOT to amend the plan and take the road out west of the power lines and south of Glover Lane. It's not all about us. We here up north don't want the road to compromise ANY neighborhood. That's what we are fighting for.

  7. @Fiauna: from 1996 until 2009 every planning map and development map in Farmington City showed a road going through the Shepherd
Lane developments. There were no such plans for a westerly road going through the Wetlands. It sounds to me that you either 1) rolled the dice hoping the road would never materialize or 2) did a very poor job of doing your due dilligence. Either way, this proposed route supported by Farmington City should be no surprise to you.

You should fight for your cause and so should we, but you should understand ineffective due dilligence on your part doesn't change the fact that for 13 years there was a planned road through your community. Woodside Builders and your real estate agents should probably be answering your complaints from here on out. Good luck.

  9. Fiauna, while I appreciate your determination, you may want to recheck your facts from the presentation last night. For a 13 year period Farmington City held their ground and insisted on the Shepherd Lane route. You are mistaking UDOT's requests with Farmington's long-held position.

I am curious, when did you buy or build your home?? Was it between 1996 and 2009? If so, you had a reasonable expectation that a road was coming through.

Farmington City has flip flopped once. They changed when they understood from UDOT that a northern route was not feasible. When the feasibility study showed that a northerly route was doable, that is when they changed back to the ORIGINAL route.

Contrary to what you may believe when more and new facts are discovered then it is OK to "flip flop". Good luck.

  10. If you want to see how all the cities in Davis came together once before to adopt a non-westerly development plan go here: http://www.mitigationcommission.gov/wetlands/pdf/davis_shorelands_masterplan.pdf
